COOMA NSW 2630
Two years ago financial pressures resulted in curtailment of some arts courses run by Cooma TAFE. Small numbers and, perhaps, a lack of talent and application amongst those attending, made for an easy decision. Nevertheless there is a need for instruction and guidance in the arts, perhaps by intensive short courses.
Cooma TAFE has some 8oo students registered for courses this year plus a further 1000 registrations for short courses.
The Future:
The Monaro’s most pressing need is for the return of those who were brought up here, who understand the region, and who are equipped with a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
To succeed such entrepreneurs will need the help of those trained in business, law, accountancy and many other professions. So we have a continuing need to help the next generation acquire these qualifications and return to the Monaro.
Local firms might help by providing students with meaningful vacation employment which challenges their capabilities and excites their long-term interest in the region’s potential.
